The Global Spell Bee, is an international co-curriculum event organised by EduPro Concepts Bangladesh (A Concern of First Love Centre). The Second Edition of the National round was held at the Six Season Hotel, Gulshan in partnership with CSR Window and Help The Future on the 18th of May, 2024.
This event served as a platform for young learners to celebrate and enhance their linguistic skills, as well as, promote English literacy in Bangladesh which was proudly powered by Berger Paints Bangladesh and sponsored by IDLC – Financing Happiness.
Thirty students from various schools in Dhaka underwent rigorous training sessions and a written test, leading to the final oral competition. The event was attended by distinguished guests, principals from participating schools, teachers, and the contestants’ families, each adding their unique touch to the occasion.
The Director, Educational Activities of EduPro Concepts Bangladesh, Christabel Naa Adei, in her welcome address thanked parents for supporting their children from the very beginning of Global Spell Bee journey to the National stage of the competition.
She also encouraged the contestants to do their very best and shine wherever they find themselves regardless of the outcome of the competition. . Her remarks set the tone for a morning filled with inspiration and celebration.
Dr. Hugh Martin , the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer at the Asian University of Women , delivered a warm speech, emphasising to the contestants that all are winners to have been able to reach the Oral Stage of the Global Spell Bee. .
The Special Guest Almeer Ahsan Asif, Deputy Chief of Party at USAID Bijoyee Activity, urged contestants to be very focused and take advantage of the opportunity to develop their speaking, and thinking capabilities. He also encouraged all contestants to have a vision that drives and motivates them beyond gifts.
The occasion also welcomed Miss Ishrat Jahan, Director of HR and Training at Expeditors Ltd and Maliha Ahsan, Education Programme Manager at the Abinta Kabir Foundation, who presented awards to all contestants.
Berger Paints Bangladesh, as a sponsor and IDLC – Financing Happiness , played a pivotal role in making the event a resounding success, demonstrating their commitment to quality education and community engagement. The Global Spell Bee, Bangladesh final witnessed impressive performance from all contestants, showcasing their dedication and exceptional spelling skills.
The event concluded on a high note, celebrating the hard work and achievements of our young spellers. After a nail-biting competition, Mr. Aiman Sudad Anindo from Canadian Trillinium International School secured first place in the Senior Category among twelve contestants. Miss Bridget Riya Roy from Daffodil International School, Dhanmondi, won first place in the Junior Category out of eighteen contestants in the Global Spell Bee Bangladesh.
The two winners and fifteen other contestants have the opportunity to take part in the Global Spell Bee , Dubai from 3rd October to 8th October 2024 which will be held in Dubai.
